Current Status of Heat Treatment for Forgings

The China Forging and Pressing Association held a forging heat treatment seminar in Changchun from October 14th to 16th, 2012. Prior to the seminar, a survey was conducted on the heat treatment situation of forgings in 16 forging enterprises. During the conference, the research results were reported to the attending representatives. The following is hereby announced:

25% of enterprises use non quenched and tempered steel, accounting for 20% -40% of the total product usage; 75% of enterprises do not use non modulated steel.

 

 

 The statistical results of 44 forging enterprises in 2009 showed that in the forging manufacturing process, the energy cost of hot die forging enterprises accounted for 67.87% of the total energy cost, and the energy cost of heat treatment accounted for 32.13% of the total energy cost; The energy cost of cold and warm precision forging enterprises accounts for 49.38% of the total energy cost, while the energy cost of heat treatment accounts for 50.62% of the total energy cost. The types of heat treatment quality problems and the number of problematic enterprises account for a relatively high proportion (see Figure 4). The proportion of hardness problems in some enterprises accounts for 40%, even up to 70%; The proportion of organizational problems reaches 30% -50%, with some enterprises reaching 70%; Performance failure accounts for 20-3%
